To reach the lower storage area of the 4229 makeup case, first remove all four covered storage boxes, then remove the middle support platform. The lower EVA-divided area sits beneath these components, so opening the case alone does not provide direct access to it.
This guide follows four photographed states, from the boxes installed to the main compartment fully cleared. It explains what each removal step reveals and how to interpret the measured internal dimensions. The photographs document the physical arrangement; the measurements were taken directly from the case and its boxes.
How the Four Boxes and Support Platform Work Together
The upper arrangement contains two longer covered boxes and two shorter covered boxes. Their measured internal dimensions, listed as L × W × H, are:
| Removable box | Quantity | Internal dimensions per box |
|---|---|---|
| Longer box | 2 | 13 × 31 × 8.5 cm |
| Shorter box | 2 | 13 × 16 × 8.5 cm |
These figures describe the inside of each box. An item exactly 8.5 cm tall is not guaranteed to fit with the cover closed; closure clearance must be checked separately.
All four boxes rest on a removable middle support platform. The platform sits above the lower EVA dividers and provides a flat supporting surface for the boxes. It is a supporting component, not a separate storage compartment.
The first photograph shows the four boxes installed, with their interiors visible. Beneath them, the platform separates this arrangement from the lower divided storage area.
How to Access the Lower Storage Area
Step 1: Remove all four boxes. Take out both longer boxes and both shorter boxes. This exposes the middle support platform, which remains above the lower EVA dividers.
At this stage, the visible flat surface is the platform—not the cleared bottom of the main compartment. Removing the boxes alone does not complete the lower-access sequence.
Step 2: Remove the support platform. With the platform taken out, the lower storage area becomes accessible while the EVA dividers remain installed.
The lower storage system includes 10 removable and rearrangeable EVA dividers. They can be repositioned to change the divisions within that area. The photographed arrangement illustrates one layout; the supplied divider count should not be inferred by counting the sections visible in the photograph.
Accessing lower items does not require removing all the dividers. That additional step is relevant when clearing the main compartment, rather than simply reaching the divided storage beneath the platform.
What Changes When the Components Are Removed
Each state answers a different question about the interior:
| State | Components remaining inside | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Boxes installed | Four boxes, platform and lower dividers | The layered storage arrangement |
| Boxes removed | Platform and lower dividers | The surface supporting the boxes |
| Platform removed | Lower EVA dividers | The accessible divided storage area |
| Fully cleared | None of these removable components | The main compartment without boxes, platform or dividers |
Removing the boxes changes the upper arrangement. Removing the platform opens access to the lower area. Removing all the EVA dividers then clears the internal divisions.
These steps change how the existing interior is organized; they do not enlarge the case itself. The cleared state also removes the separate organization provided by the boxes and dividers.
The lid has an additional 15 brush slots arranged in three rows of five, plus a zippered storage compartment. These features are separate from the main-compartment removal sequence.
Understanding the Cleared Main Compartment Dimensions
The fully cleared main compartment measures 45 × 33 × 17 cm (L × W × H). This measurement was taken only after removing all four boxes, the middle support platform and all lower EVA dividers.
It does not describe the usable lower storage space with the platform and boxes installed. In particular, the 17 cm measurement should not be used as the available height beneath the platform.
Use the cleared dimensions only when assessing that cleared state. For the assembled layout, an intended item must be checked in its actual position beneath the platform or inside a covered box. Measurements from different states are not interchangeable.
Does This Layout Suit Your Packing Routine?
Consider how often you expect to retrieve items from the lower divided area. If that happens repeatedly, removing four boxes and the platform is part of the access routine you need to evaluate. Consider whether you have a nearby surface where you can temporarily place the four boxes and support platform
If you prefer keeping items separated among four removable boxes, assess their individual internal dimensions alongside that access sequence. If you intend to clear the main compartment, consider whether giving up those divisions suits the arrangement you want.
Neither state is inherently better. A useful sample check follows your expected sequence: place the intended items, retrieve them in the order you would normally use them, and check the relevant covers and case closure.
